David
I am David and I come from Taita Taveta, in a village known as Wongonyi. I am currently pursuing a degree in a Bachelor of Commerce at Egerton University. I never knew my father, and at the age of 19 years, I lost my mother to cancer. When I lost my mother, I was in my final year of high school, and I had to sit my final examinations only days after burying my mother. This was a very difficult time for me. In the future, I want to be an accountant. I want to give back to my community and help other children who are in the same situation as me. I was one of only 2 students in the region to be offered a position at University, however, now an orphan in a remote village in Kenya, there was no way to pay for my tuition. I live with my elderly grandmother, who works mainly as a volunteer nurse in the local medical clinic. David was days away from withdrawing from his life changing university degree when the Kickstart Project team met him and accepted his application for sponsorship.
