Rechel

My name is Rechel. I live with my mother and 7 siblings in a small, single-room home in the Kibera Slum in Kenya. My mother, my siblings and I moved from our village to Kibera a few years ago. My father is mentally disturbed and remains in the village alone. Family and friends support him but he is not able to provide for his family due to his mental illness. My mother does not have a consistent source of income and works predominantly as a volunteer at a local healthcare centre in the Kibera Slum. 

Because of this we have very little money and cannot afford secondary school fees. I want to become a doctor to help the children of my community so one day they can achieve their dreams too.
