Trevor
My name is Trevor Isaack and I live in the Kibera Slum. I grew up in a small village called Kabwodo in Western province. My mother gave birth to me when she was in her final year of secondary school. The pregnancy meant that my mother could not continue with her study. When I was 1 year old my mother decided to get married and left me with my grandmother. I have never met my father. When I was 5 years old I was taken back to my mother, but she didn’t want to look after me, and sent me back to my grandmother. In 2010, I moved to the Kibera Slum to live with my aunt. I didn’t go to school for two years because there was no money to pay fees. Instead, I sold water so that my aunt could have a small income. Finally, I was able to join a small school in Kibera to finish my primary education. My hobby is painting. I paint pictures when I have the chance. I enjoy drawing flowers and colouring them in. I think they look beautiful. My dream is to become a doctor. I would like to help people who cannot afford medicine or surgery. I hope I can work in Nairobi, and I will continue to try my best at school.
