Fredrick

My name is Fredrick and I was born in Dagoretti, Kenya in 2001. I attended St Catherine’s Primary School in the Kibera Slum and sat my final primary exams in 2017. I moved around to several different primary schools throughout my childhood due to lack of funds to pay school fees. I live with my mother, older brother and two younger sisters. I grew up in Ebusalisi Village located in Mumias Sub-county, Kakamega County, Kenya. My father is very sick and my mother is struggling to support the family and pay for school fees for my siblings. My mother sells vegetables on the side of the road to support our family but it is not enough.

I dream of becoming a teacher when I grow up because I would like to help other children from disadvantaged areas in Kenya.
