Mitchelle
My name is Mitchelle and I was born in Siaya, Kenya in 2003. I live with my aunt and uncle after my parents passed away when I was only three years old. They were both HIV positive. My aunt is like a mother to me and I am like a sister to my four cousins. My aunt sells ground nuts in the market and my uncle is a Jua Kali artisan (metal or wood worker).
We live together in a single-roomed semi-permanent home in the Kibera Slum. The floor is dirt and the roof leaks when it rains, but we make the best of what they have.
I attended Olympic Primary School in the Kibera Slum and I sat my final primary school exams in 2017.
I want to make my aunt and uncle proud of me and I would like to help them because of how much they have helped me throughout my childhood. My dream is to become an architect.
