Polycap
My name is Polycap and I grew up in Siyenga Village, located in Navakholo sub-county, Kakamega County, Kenya. I attended St Catherine’s Primary School in the Kibera Slum and sat my final primary exams in 2017. My home in the slum is a basic single-roomed house made of mudbrick and tin. I live there with my mother and younger sister. My mother works as a house help but earns little money to support the family. Due to the limited funds available to our family, without a sponsorship opportunity, I would not be able to continue my education beyond primary school.
I dream of becoming a doctor when I grow up because I would like to save lives and help people who are sick. I would also like to establish a children’s home and a hospital in the Kibera Slum, in order to help other people from disadvantaged communities.
“After completing my education, my life, my family and my community will have a bright future” – Polycap, 2018.
