Jemilah was born in Wesu, Taita Taveta in 2004. Her village is very rural and opportunities for quality education and employment are scarce. She attended Shighard Primary School until 2019. Together with her mother and three siblings, Jemilah lives in a small, semi-permanent house on a small farm in the village. Jemilah’s mother is unemployed, so she grows as much food on their half acre land as she can in order to feed the family. They survive on very little.
Jemilah grew up without a father, leaving a large strain on her mother to support the children.
She dreams of becoming a doctor in order to help needy people in her community.
