Benjamin

My name is Benjamin and was born in Dandora, Kenya in 2006. I have 3 younger siblings; two brothers and a sister. My family of 6 lives in a small single-roomed home in the Kibera Slum. My parents do not have regular income, due to the limited employment opportunities in Kenya.

When I was three years old, my family moved from our rural home in Dandora to Kibera, in search of employment, but we continued to struggle for income in the 12 years since the move. My parents do whatever they can to support us but the prospect of high school was totally out of reach me, due to the significant cost associated with high school fees, uniform, text books etc. This sponsorship has changed my life. 

I dream of becoming a doctor when I finishes school. I would like to be able to help the community in Kibera to have better access to healthcare.
