Celestine

Celestine was born in 2010 in Migori County, Kenya. As one of six children in a single parent family, Celestine faces many challenges in her day to day life. Celestine’s mother works hard to provide for her six children by washing clothes for families in the local area. Unfortunately, her income is barely enough to pay for rent and food for the family, leaving no money for education or health related expenses.

After the tragic passing of her father, Celestine’s mother struggled immensely to support her six children. Even with the help of her grandmother, Celestine and her siblings would often go to sleep without a meal for several days at a time.

Celestine lives in a small, single-roomed house with her mother and siblings. The house has no plumbing, but there is electricity available when they can afford to use it.

Despite the incredible challenges that Celestine has faced in her young life, she is determined to help others, starting with her own family.

Celestine dreams of becoming a lawyer so that she can support people who are experiencing adversity in their lives.
