Faith M
Faith was born in 2010, in Nandi South, Kenya.
Faith has an older and a younger brother. She attended primary school in the Kibera Slum in Nairobi. The family lives in a small, single-roomed home in Kibera. They use curtains to create a partition between the sleeping area and the cooking/living space. The roof of their home is poorly built and often leaks. Working as security guard, Faith’s father earns very little and is not able to afford new materials to repair the leaking roof.
The family’s budget is stretched very thin and they are used to skipping meals when there is not enough money for food. The scarcity of meals as resulted in Faith suffering from stomach ulcers. The condition causes her a lot of pain but there is little they can do to resolve this health issue due to limited access to affordable healthcare.
Faith dreams of becoming a doctor when she is older. She is particularly interested in Cardiology, and would love to support people to achieve better heart health in Kenya.
